Yesterday, our research group hosted Professor Emma Sayer from the University of Ulm, who shared insights from the Gigante Litter Manipulation Project on tropical tree growth, nutrient cycling, and greenhouse gases. Her research highlights the vital role of leaf litter in nutrient cycling and soil carbon storage, with surprising findings on forest greenhouse gas balances. Looking ahead, Professor Sayer is eager to explore the role of cryptogams in these processes. After the talk, we enjoyed a great dinner and inspiring discussions!
